Target Training

Target training is a great foundation for lots of handy behaviours and I recommend it to everyone. I normally start with a target stick then move on to other objects.
My theory is to get the dog to understand the touch command. From there you can train closing doors, ringing bells, switching lights on; the list is endless. Target training is also a great way to train a send away.

Here is a video of my 2 dogs targeting a ball on a plant hanger - forgive fatty Arbuckle with the clicker - someone will have to put him on a diet before he turns into an Easter egg with feet.
